Guide On How To Use The Wiki
Here's a short help on how to use the wiki behind aigamesnet.org. Just click on a link below and the answer will appear automagically!
How to upload images and other content to the wiki
When editing a page, one of the buttons on the toolbar displays a little framed image, the mouse-over says “Add images and other files”.
A new window opens where you can upload your media content to the media library. Finally, if you click on the name of the item in the media library that you want to use, it pastes the code required into your page edit form.
On a wiki, pages are added by creating a link to a non existing page, following this link, and clicking on Create this page.
In detail:
When editing a page, an internal link can be created with the syntax NewPage, or Link name of the NewPage.
After saving the page, you can follow the link to NewPage you just created.
On the new page, it will say something like “This topic does not exist yet”. You can click on “Create this page”, to create it.
You can then also link from other pages to NewPage, simply by adding an internal link to NewPage on the other page.
The menu on top of the network site itself can be edited in a similar manner, click on “Edit” (the rightmost menu entry), and add/edit links. You should see how the syntax works from the other menu entries. Note, however, that the structure of the menu might change when we change the page layout.
Namespaces:
When a link to a new page is created, this new page is in the same namespace as the page where you originally created the link (you can think of a namespace as a folder, that contains the pages as files). For example, when you create a new page NewPage in “Steering Group”, its actual name will be steering:NewPage. When you want to link to NewPage from another page, say your profile page, you have to specify the full path like this: NewPage.
This is useful for restricting access: For example, only steering group members have access to any page within the steering namespace.
